sfx job! news and thank-yous

Fri Oct 23, 2009, 8:09 PM
So THIS time my absence is explainable by the new job I got. Permanent full time employment for a special effects company here in Toronto. It's an awesome place. I absolutely love everyone there and it's truly a dream job!! But it keeps me busy so I'll prolly be on less, so...business as usual!. lol

Thank you to everyone who put up with me and gave me some advice on breaking into the industry. :D Thanks to :icontrev-solo: :iconmkm3d: :iconkaduflyer: and to anyone else who has given me words of inspiration and encouragement! I couldn't have done it without your awesome suggestions and knowhow and I owe you guys a ton for taking the time to help a gal out! :D

Now back to work! I'll be back soon...er...eventually...ish. :D

Zuda's done, back to work!

Tue Jun 16, 2009, 7:15 PM
I have the sculpting part of my latest doll done as of tonight! Done, done-diddly-un!! Now it's time to paint her and make her outfit and all that.

And I'm going to test out the new techniques I've been pestering you guys about these last few weeks. New paints, sealers, non-toxic, non-asthma inducing glue, etc.

Not to mention that this time I made her into an exercise in anatomy. I really truly tried to not skimp on a single necessary muscle, tendon, bone, etc and I really hope it shows. The firing of this clay has a way of dulling the sharper details but I hope it still shows though.

It's great to be back doing this. I missed what it felt like to sculpt, to work stuff out, to make choices about what, how, what colour etc. I dunno why I stopped for so long, it's been a hectic personal time I guess and I have to be in the right mindset to get stuff done. But thats a lame excuse and for sure I'll never let myself go without sculpting for this long again. This was ridiculous and I owe myself a damn apology for taking such a long break.
Maybe my problem was that I stopped challenging myself, it felt like I was doing the same thing again and again and that combined with other things...lol, more excuses. Important thing is I'm back and it feels good :D

A lovestory for the over and under medicated

Sat May 2, 2009, 2:28 PM
LILY OF THE VALLEY is a love story for the over and under medicated, the disenchanted, the excessively violent and the soft spoken.

This is the new comic that my boyfriend, Adam Atherton :iconadamda: and I have been toiling away on these past few months. We're hoping to gain some support for it so if you're interested come check it out here for updates and artwork and follow our blog. [link] We also have an ever growing facebook group if that's more your style [link] (For some reason it wont let me post the link to the facebook group. You can find it by searching for 'Lily of the Valley' in your facebook search )

Our little indie comic needs all the support it can get and if you do check it out, thank you very much! Fan support means everything to indie comics because that's all it is, the artist and the fans, and nothing else. ;)

I'll be updating on the status of this comic throughout :D

Thanks again!

more safety concerns. Is there a safe alternative to turpentine for smoothing out polymer/wax clay pieces?
